- Full length human CDKN2A recombinant protein expressed in E. coli.
- Description
- Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2A (CDKN2A) isoform 1, also known as p16-INK4a, is an inhibitor of the cyclin dependent kinases CDK4 and CDK6. CDKN2A acts as a negative regulator of cell cycle progression by preventing phosphorylation of the retinoblastoma protein (pRb) by cyclin-dependent kinases. CDKN2A expression is upregulated during cellular senescence and aging. It functions as a tumor suppressor to induce cell cycle arrest and aging of normal tissues. Germ line point mutations, homozygous deletion, or promoter methylation in the human CDKN2A locus causes uncontrolled cell proliferation, which results in a variety of malignancies such as melanoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, gastric cancer, and esophageal cancer.

- Experimental details
- Total cell lysate from 293T cells (lane 1) and Jurkat cells (lane 2) were resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose, and probed with purified monoclonal anti-CDKN2A (clone 15C10C30) antibody. Proteins were visualized using an anti-mouse-IgG secondary conjugated to HRP and chemiluminescence detection.
