Provider FAQ

  • What is Antibodypedia?
    • Antibodypedia is an open-access resource that can be browsed at no charge by all users. Providers may list their antibodies with us free-of-charge. We compile and report user and vendor data, including publications citing antibodies, on-site to construct a comprehensive picture of an antibody’s efficacy across a range of applications and help users find the right antibody and optimal working conditions for their experiments. User data are peer-reviewed for accuracy and completeness before their publication. We do not recommend or disparage antibodies: we simply present data so that users can make the most educated possible choice about antibody purchase. No antibodies are sold on our site: all listings contain links back to provider pages for ease of purchase.
  • Why should I submit antibodies to Antibodypedia?
    • By synthesizing all the information scientists require to make informed choices about the antibodies most suitable for their research needs, Antibodypedia will become a first stop for many antibody purchasers. We link directly to provider web pages, increasing the visibility and discoverability of your antibodies and thereby traffic to your site.
  • Which antibodies can I upload to Antibodypedia?
    • We will list any antibodies available to the scientific community at large, including commercially produced reagents and those generated by academic laboratories or consortia. At the moment we list antibodies with a human antigen and/ or a cognate mouse antigen. However, any and every antibody targeting a human protein or a protein orthologous to a human antigen can be uploaded.
  • Where can I upload my antibodies to Antibodypedia?
  • Where can I find guidelines and instructions for antibody submission?
    • Antibody submission guidelines can be found here. Please note that you may remove your antibodies at any time if you no longer wish to list them.
    • Antibody submission instructions can be found here
  • Must I pay to list on Antibodypedia?
    • We have no plans to charge for antibody listing.
  • How can antibodies be submitted to Antibodypedia?
    • Antibodies should be submitted in spreadsheet format. Each antibody should be listed by its product number and the accession number of the antigen recognized. A link should be provided to the product page on the provider website, and the type of antibody (monoclonal, polyclonal, etc) should be specified. Any available quality control data can be submitted as well by including the web address at which images can be found. Complete guidelines can be found here.
  • What sort of quality control data can be submitted?
    • We list data for antibody performance in several commonly used applications, including western blot; ELISA; immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry and immunoelectron microscopy; immunoprecipitation; flow cytometry/ FACS; protein array; gel-shift/ antibody supershift assays; radioimmunoassay; neutralizing antibody assays; proximity ligation assay; and functional assays. Please email us at contact@antibodypedia.com if you are unsure whether data are appropriate or correctly formatted. Please note that we can accept user-derived data as quality control data.
  • Can I submit references to Antibodypedia?
    • We aim to append references to as many antibody listings as possible to improve the sharing of protocols among the user community. Many journals do not currently require the inclusion of antibody product numbers in Materials and Methods sections, so that although we do search systematically for papers referencing antibodies listed with us we cannot guarantee the retrieval of all such references. We therefore encourage you to share publications citing your antibodies with us; our submission system can accept digital object identifiers (DOIs) or PubMed IDs.
  • Are there premium listing options for my antibodies?
    • Premium (paid) listing options for enhanced antibody visibility on antibodypedia.com are now available following the release of Antibodypedia version 7 in November 2012. These include display of your company logo next to antibodies as well as spotlighting your antibodies in search results; banner advertising will also be available for purchase. For more information on banner advertising or premium options, including the appearance of the latter in our redesigned site, please contact us
  • Can I purchase advertising on Antibodypedia?
    • Please see the previous question: we have a number of spaces for banner advertising on the site.
  • How can I determine whether listing antibodies in Antibodypedia is driving traffic to my website?
    • We collect statistics on user behaviour during their time on Antibodypedia, as well as the sites they visit after leaving our pages, and can make these available to you.
  • How are antibodies listed in Antibodypedia scored?
    • We score antibodies independently in each application based on the set of applications in which their use is recommended and the data available. A description of the scores can be found here. Scoring is based on both vendor and user data where possible.
  • What form will user data and commentary posted on-site take?
    • User data will be peer-reviewed before posting to ensure the inclusion of appropriate controls and the accuracy of the conclusions drawn regarding antibody efficacy. All comments submitted to the site will be moderated before posting to verify their relevance.
