Antibody listing status

Antibodies listed in Antibodypedia will be scored independently in each application according to the quantity and nature of the data available to assess their efficacy in that application. The classification 'Enhanced validation', represented by , is suggesting antibody effectiveness in a specific application verified by any of the five pillars for antibody validation. 'Supportive data in Antibodypedia', represented by the symbol , means that primary data generated by users or providers and suggesting antibody effectiveness in a specific experimental category can be found at Antibodypedia pages. 'Data presented on provider website', represented by the symbol , indicates that quality control data for a given application are available at provider antibody pages. 'Data presented in Antibodypedia (inconclusive)', represented by the symbol , may imply user or provider data inconsistent with previous experimentation; however, this score may also be employed where the antigen is uncharacterized and no additional data can substantiate the findings. 'Recommended by provider', represented by the symbol , is used for antibodies where quality control or user data are not available for an application in which the antibody's use has been validated. Data generated within the Antibodypedia Validation Initiative (AVI) are classified as 'Validated within AVI' and represented by the symbol . This means that primary data generated by the users may be found on Antibodypedia pages, and is suggesting antibody effectiveness in a specific application verified by any of the five pillars for antibody validation. 'Eligible for validation within AVI', represented by the symbol , indicates that the antibody is eligible of validation within the Antibodypedia Validation Initiative.

Overall antibody efficacy scores also take into account community preference for a particular reagent by sondering its citations in the published literature.

The Antibodypedia algorithm

Provider rankings on antibody search results pages are determined according to the score of their best antibody. If two independent providers list antibodies with identical scores, the score of the second-most-efficacious antibody is taken into account, and so on, until rank is established (similar to the 'Alternative vote' system). 

Antibodies receive separate scores in each application; cumulative scores are determined by summing all application-specific scores, as well as a separate score based on an antibody's literature citations.

Validation data and recommendation weights are applied for each application, and reference citation weights are applied to the antibody as a whole, to produce a score indicating an antibody's overall performance. These scores then determine the order in which both provider and antibody are listed for any antigen.
