- C-X-C motif chemokine 14 (also called Chemokine BRAK or Small-inducible cytokine B14) is encoded by the CXCL14 gene (also known as MIP2G) in human. It belongs to the CXC (Cys-X-Cys) subfamily of cytokines, members of which are characterized by two cysteines separated by a single amino acid. CXCL14 protein acts as a neutrophil chemoattractant with weaker potency toward dendritic cells, while being non-chemotactic for T-cells, B-cells, monocytes, natural killer cells, or granulocytes.
