Description: Fc receptor-like A protein, also known as FCRL, FcRLA, FcRX, and FREB, is a cytoplasmic protein exhibiting two Ig-like C2-type and one C terminal mucin-like domains. Located on chromosome 1q23 the full length isoform is 38kD, though multiple splice variants have been reported. FcRLA is normally expressed in B-cells associated with tonsillar and splenic germinal centers and the splenic marginal zone. However, the immunogenicity of FcRLA in multiple melanoma patients coupled with the variable expression reported in B-cell and Burkitt's lymphoma highlight the role FcRLA may play in neoplasticity.
