- PAR1 is one of the four members of the proteinase-activated receptors (PARs) family, which plays an important role in thrombosis, vascular development, inflammation, and tumorigenesis. PAR1 is classically activated by thrombin through cleavage of the N-terminal exodomain. It can also be activated through MMP. After activation, PAR1 is able to stimulate complex intracellular signaling networks via G protein-mediated pathways and β-arrestin signaling.
