- Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 5, also known as, Acyl-CoA-desaturase 4 or HSCD5 or Stearoyl-CoA 9-desaturase, and encoded by the gene name(s), SCD5 or ACOD4 or SCD4, is an integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum that catalyzes the formation of monounsaturated fatty acids from saturated fatty acids. SCD5 is expressed in fetal brain, and at lower levels in fetal kidney. SCD5 is also detected in adult brain and pancreas, and at lower levels in kidney and lung.

- Storage
- Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
